Modules
Module1: Duration - 35 minutes
Target Audience: General Employees, Contractors, Visitors
Topic: A General Introduction to Combustible Dust Hazards
Combustible dust clouds may not normally be present in the workplace during operation of the process, but they may be present inside process vessels, dust-collectors and powder transfer equipment. Many potential ignition sources can be present in the workplace and, in addition, many of the processing operations such as milling, blending, pneumatic conveying and drying can cause the ignition of powders through electrical sparks, friction and electrostatics. These modules are designed to train the employees so that they develop important concepts regarding identification and remediation of these issues. Each module targets a different audience and include testing questions and explanatory notes pertinent to important concepts and combustible dust hazards. Special attention is also given to the application of safeguards against electrostatic ignition sources.
